About the course of study
The programme of studies in National Security (practical profile), developed by prominent specialists with many years of professional experience in the area of security, allows students to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Some of the classes conducted in the course have a field character (e.g. shooting). The studies are addressed to persons professionally connected with the security sector or interested in working in this sector – uniformed services officers, state and local government officials, persons with access to classified information, members of pro-defence organisations
The Department of National Security is constantly developing, taking care to continuously improve the quality of education and to adapt the study programme to the needs of the labour market and the defence system of the Republic of Poland. In the past years, the department has organised national and international academic conferences, seminars, lectures and meetings with prominent personalities related to security issues. In our activities we cooperate, among others, with uniformed services and property protection agencies – enabling our students to undergo professional practice:
Students of National Security studies additionally pursue, “as a package”, two courses: The course “Educator of leisure activities for children and young people” (for the specialisation: Management of Pro-Defence Organisations); Course for the manager of mass events (all students).Why is it worth choosing our studies?
“The nearly thirty-year period of operation of the university is a process of continuous improvement and adaptation of the forms of education to the requirements of the state defense system and the threats and challenges of the modern security environment. The effort of the studies focuses on the need to prepare professionals in the field of state security, capable of conducting assessments and analyzes of phenomena and processes, diagnosing the development of contemporary threats and challenges shaping security, prepared to work in state and local government administration institutions, uniformed services and crisis management staffs.”
Specialities/educational profiles:
Management of pro-defence organisations
students become acquainted with the problems of functioning of non-governmental organisations of a pro-defence profile and effective management of such organisations; they learn about the associations’ accounting, occupational health and safety, basics of law or media communication. Graduates of the course gain competences to perform effectively managerial functions in pro-defence organisations.
Protection of classified information
students learn about the protection of classified information, its legal basis and threats, terrorism, intelligence and counterintelligence, critical infrastructure, industrial security, how the state defends itself against hackers and about the Wikileaks affair. Graduates of the course can develop professionally by working in the classified information divisions of government agencies and companies.
